New Year (January)

1 January is New Year’s Day (Western Calendar) and a Thailand National Holiday. Many Thais will travel to visit their parents & other relatives. Many will give their friends (& also their business contacts) gifts, often Gift Baskets, as a way of saying “Thank you for last year & Happy New Year”.
TOP TIP: Check with your recipient if they are leaving Pattaya for the New Year holiday.
NOTE:
The traditional Thai New Year starts on 13 April & is celebrated by a public holiday period & the Songkran (water) festival.
